Activity: Our Homeschool Promise Chart 📜✨
Your Mission: To create a beautiful chart with the most important rules for your homeschool. This chart will remind everyone how to work together to have a happy, safe, and respectful learning day.
Materials You'll Need:
-
A large piece of paper or poster board
-
Markers, crayons, or colored pencils
-
Stickers (optional)
Step 1: Brainstorm Your Rules 🧠
Talk together about what rules would be good for your homeschool. Think about what helps you learn best and feel good. Here are some ideas to get you started:
-
Listen when someone is talking.
-
Try your best, even when it's tricky.
-
Clean up our learning space when we're done.
-
Ask for help when you need it.
-
Be kind with our words and actions.
Choose the 3 or 4 most important rules for your family.
Step 2: Create Your Title 🎨
At the very top of your poster, write a title in big, colorful letters. You could call it:
-
Our Homeschool Rules
-
Our Family Learning Promise
-
[Your Family's Name] School Rules
Step 3: Make Your Chart
For each rule you chose, you will make three sections on your poster:
-
The Rule: What the rule is.
-
Why It's Important: How the rule helps everyone feel. (e.g., "safe," "respected," "happy," "ready to learn").
-
A Picture: A drawing that shows the rule in action.
Step 4: Write and Draw Each Rule ✍️
Work on one rule at a time.
-
Write the rule in the first section.
-
Write why it's important in the second section.
-
Draw a picture of the rule in the third section.
Example:
-
The Rule: We take turns talking.
-
Why It's Important: So everyone feels respected and heard.
-
A Picture: A drawing of you and your parent, with one person talking and one person listening.
Step 5: Sign Your Promise! 🌟
This is the most important step! At the bottom of the chart, make a space for both the student and the parent to sign their names. This shows that you both agree to follow these rules together as a team.
Step 6: Decorate and Display!
Add colors, stickers, or a fun border to your chart. When you're all done, hang it up in your learning space where everyone can see it every day. Great job, you've just created the official rules for your homeschool!
